Position Summary

The Director of Sales is responsible for the strategic growth of SolarBOS in all areas of sales, marketing, customer service and assist product development by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. This position will have direct supervision over Sales, Marketing, and Inside Sales.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Develops and implements strategic sales plans for Wire and Enclosure divisions to accommodate corporate goals.
  • Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates.
  • Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to manage, develop and improve direct and indirect reports.
  • Directs distribution development activity and coordinates sales accounts by establishing sales quotas and goals.
  • Provides overall SolarBOS strategic marketing plan for all sales, marketing and customer service.
  • Reviews sales analysis and product/account profitability with the Business Unit Manager to formulate policy, develop sales growth strategies and ensure company margin expectations are achieved.
  • Analyze sales to assess product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from sales line. Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.
  • Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales managers.
  • Meets with key clients, assisting sales managers with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Analyzes and controls expenditures of assigned organization to conform to budgetary requirements
  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  • Works with others with respect to product research and development, generation of new and improved products to meet current and perceived customer demand
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
  • Assures sales, marketing and customer service groups' work diligently with operations team to drive overall teamwork, customer responsiveness, and cost effectiveness.

Secondary Accountabilities

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Marketing or related field
  • 7+ years in a senior level Sales role
  • Solar industry preferred
  • 5+ years of managing people
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel 
  • Excellent computer, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
